Yesterday, Tuesday June 7th was the 27th annual museum mile festival. Andrew and I decided to go out and get cultured. But before going out there, I had to stop by his job to "borrow some office supplies". You know what I mean. Most of us abuse our office supply privileges.
So... It's about that time for me to go out on my interviews so that I can have my first real full time job. So I went over to Andrews job and I printed out 15 copies of my resume on their nice resume paper. Then I talked to his co workers aka got my networking in. Then we headed over to Fifth Avenue to the museums.
Most New Yorkers have never even been to half of the attractions that the city has to offer. Being that everything was free, we decided to go to all of the museums on that mile. Our first stop was at the Guggenheim. The line was so long. Its funny how people come out when things are FREE. Next we went to the National Design Museum and. I must say that this was my favorite one. I loved the textiles that were on display there. Next there was the Jewish Museum, El Museo del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York, National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts and of course the metropolitan Museum of Arts and many others.
If you have not yet had your chance to go out and see these wonderful displays then take a day off of work, or if you are unemployed like me, wake up early and just go. Tomorrow is promised to no one.
Big Up to Nikki for going out and getting cultured also. I ran into her on the way to the MOMA. Its funny, I could count the amount of black people I saw on my fingers and toes. OK, maybe there were a little more than that, but we need to take the time out to take advantage of the great exhibits.

I mean I would have thought once we heard FREE we would have been right there...but alas that wasnt the case. lol
i agree but i couldnt make it this year
i did go to brooklyn museum the week before though, does that count? lol
I dont concern myself so much with how many black folks show up at events. if they want to go they will go. why should they go if they will gt nothing from it? that would be even worse.
I do, however, have a close-knit social group that I formed [about 28 black folks] here in NYC. We attend such events, as well as plan our own. We do everything from movie trips/BBQs to museum trips and book signings. If you are interested in learning more about our group, shoot me an email.
Awww, I wanted to go to that. Maybe next year.
